PFA Student Housing

PFA wants to contribute to the development of society through creation of sustainable and inspiring frameworks for students. For that reason, the basis on which PFA’s four student housing facilities are built is: community, a strong learning environment and sustainable building practice. As a PFA customer, you, your children and your grandchildren will have preference to a student housing unit.

Inspiring learning environment for 1,000 students

When all four PFA Student Housing projects are completed, they will serve as inspirational and sustainable homes for over 1,000 students. The student housing facilities in Odense and Aalborg are open and many students have moved in.

Waiting list for PFA Student Housing

The last two student housing facilities will be in Copenhagen and Aarhus.

You can sign up on the interest list here
You will then be notified when there is news about the coming student housing facilities in Copenhagen and Aarhus.

PFA’s concept for the four student housing facilities

The four student housing facilities are built based on the same concept:

Fællesskab

Multifaceted community

The construction and interior layout of the student housing facilities focus on social living - both when it comes to different types of relations among the student residents and the local community involvement.

Strong learning environment

The interior layout of the student housing facilities is designed for providing the students with a learning environment with room for inspiration, concentration and cooperation.

Sustainable construction

Environment, energy efficiency and resource-conserving building design is key to all student housing constructions.

How to sign up

As a customer with PFA, you can sign up yourself, your children and grandchildren for PFA’s student housing. Because it is a privilege only available to PFA customers, you must log on to My PFA (mitpfa.dk) where you will be guided through to the housing portal findbolig.nu where you can make a search that includes your special wishes, specific rooms etc., and you can use the filter to search for facilities.

It is important that you follow the guide through My PFA and not just go directly to findbolig.nu. If you do so, you or your child/grandchild will not benefit from your preference as a PFA customer. If you have any questions regarding how findbolig.nu works, please call (+45) 70 30 22 01. If you have questions regarding the waiting list for student housing, please contact kat@ubsbolig.dk.

You can sign up yourself or your children for all the student housing facilities you like, but please note the criteria for signing up. We therefore recommend that you only sign up yourself or your child/grandchild for the student housing facilities you would be interested in occupying.

If you are offered a new home

When a student housing unit becomes vacant and the unit matches your search criteria, you will be contacted by one of our property managers through findbolig.nu. The first 50 applicants on the list will receive an offer. You must then either accept (respond with a ‘yes please’) or refuse the offer (respond with a ‘no thank you’) before the response deadline stated in the offer.

Among the applicants who have accepted (responded with a ‘yes please’) the system will automatically assign the student housing unit to the applicant with longest seniority on the waiting list.

Q&A about PFA Student Housing

1. What is PFA Student Housing?

PFA is working on four new construction projects that will be able to accommodate over 1,000 students in Denmark’s most popular university cities. We do so in order to contribute to the development of society and to create sustainable and inspiring frameworks for learning and community for Denmark’s students. The first student housing facilities were completed on 1 January 2020 in Odense, and in June 2020 the student housing facilities in Aalborg will also be completed.

In collaboration with PFA, Arkitema Architects has developed the concept for the coming PFA student housing projects and the ambition is for the student housing projects to attain a DGNB certification which requires certain sustainability elements in terms of construction and interior design. PFA Kollegiet Odense will therefore be one of the first student housing facilities in Denmark with a DGNB certification.

2. Who can sign up for PFA Student Housing?

PFA’s student housing is intended for everyone registered for generally recognised education. PFA customers will have preference to sign up themselves, their children and grandchildren for a student housing unit.

Children or grandchildren must provide proof of a family relation with a PFA customer on request and possibly already on application.
Stepchildren must be able to confirm the same officially registered address as the PFA customer. If the stepchild is not living at home at the sign-up, the stepchild’s parents must be able to confirm the same officially registered address as the PFA customer.

It is free-of charge to be signed up for this customer benefit.

3. Where can you find your number on the waiting list?

You can find it in your profile under ’min side’ at Findbolig.nu (in Danish only).

4. Why do you need to submit contact information – and how is it used?

Your contact details will be used to contact you if one of the homes that you have signed up for becomes available and is offered to you. In addition, your information is used to answer a number of questions before you are potentially offered a room/apartment.

Please ensure that we have the correct contact details for you by going to ‘Min side’ (My page) on Findbolig.nu.

You can read more about the privacy policy on the Findbolig.nu website.

5. Where are the four new student housing facilities located, and when are they expected to be ready for occupancy?

PFA is building a total of 1,000 student housing units in Denmark’s four most popular university cities.

The four PFA Student Housing projects and their locations are:

Odense Kollegiet, Toldbodgade 21, 5000 Odense C, – 298 rooms. Is completed and students have moved in.
Ålborg Kollegiet, Lindholm Brygge 35, 9400 Nørresundby, 220 rooms. Is completed and students have moved in.
København Kollegiet
Århus Kollegiet

We are not yet able to inform when the construction of the student housing projects in Copenhagen and Aarhus will be completed.

The waiting lists for Aalborg and Odense are open and can be found at Findbolig.nu. It is expected that the waiting lists for the Copenhagen and Aarhus student housing units will open up approximately six months before the expected occupancy date.

6. How much will a student housing unit cost and how large is it?

The size of the rent for a student housing unit will be listed at Findbolig.nu (available in Danish only). The size of the units may vary, but the unit will always consist of a room with private bathroom with shower, sink and toilet.

You must allow for paying a deposit of three months’ rent as well as one month’s prepaid rent when you take over the student housing unit.

7. How to sign up for PFA Student Housing

You can sign up yourself or your child/grandchild for PFA Student Housing through a link at My PFA (mitpfa.dk), which will pass you on to Findbolig.nu (Please note that findbolig.nu is available in Danish only). At findbolig.nu you must enter your or your child/grandchild’s name, address and e-mail. Next, you will receive a link to the actual sign-up for a student housing unit. It is not possible to sign up for PFA Student Housing by contacting PFA or Findbolig by phone or e-mail.

8. What happens when you are offered a student housing unit?

When a student housing unit becomes vacant, it will be offered to a number of PFA customers or PFA customers' children or grandchildren, who are signed up on the waiting list. Before you will be offered a student housing unit, your relation to PFA will be verified and you will receive an e-mail stating that an offer for a student housing unit is available under your profile at Findbolig.nu. It will be lessor’s representative of the student housing facility that you have signed up for who will handle any further communication, briefing about moving date and preparation of tenancy agreement, alternatively communication with the administrator who prepares the agreement on behalf of lessor.

The student housing unit is offered to multiple interested parties at the same time. If several interested parties accept the offered student housing unit, it will be assigned according to seniority on the interest list.

It is presumed that the customer has an acceptable credit rating. This means that lessor’s representative of the student housing facility in which you are offered a housing unit will carry out credit assessments ahead of assigning the student housing unit. This is to minimise the risk of losses. A credit assessment consists of consulting RKI. Only the person who stands to be assigned the student housing unit will be checked at RKI. As a standard, the lessor does not offer student housing units to persons registered in RKI. The customer/child/grandchild with the longest seniority on the interest list who is still a PFA customer or child or grandchild of a PFA customer, and who is to be assigned the student housing unit on account of this, will be contacted directly (please refer to the above) provided that the customer is not registered at RKI.

You must allow for paying a deposit of three months’ rent as well as one month’s prepaid rent when you take over the student housing unit.

Which criteria exist for being assigned a student housing unit?
• No registration in RKI
• No joint flats (co-housing arrangements)
• No pets
• Smoking is not permitted in the student housing unit
• You cannot rent out the student housing unit through, for instance, Airbnb
• You must assume the tenancy on the stated date and accept the standard terms of the tenancy agreement and the level of rent
• The PFA customer, the child or grandchild must have his or her officially registered address in the assigned student housing facility
• Your relation to PFA must continue to exist and be active in order to be assigned a student housing unit
• You must be registered for generally recognised education

9. What will happen to your number on the waiting list when you are offered a student housing unit?

If you accept a student housing unit and get it
When you are offered a student housing unit and get the tenancy, you will be removed from the waiting lists of all the student housing facilities that you have signed up for. You are welcome to sign up again.

If you accept a student housing unit but do not get the tenancy
If you are offered a student housing unit and accept it, but the unit is not assigned to you, you will keep your seniority on the waiting list.

If you decline a student housing unit

If you are offered a student housing unit and decline twice running, you will be moved to the bottom of the waiting list for the student housing facility you have signed up for. You will be registered as an inactive applicant and therefore you must log on to your profile and tick off that you want to be active again. When you are an inactive applicant, you will not accrue seniority on the waiting list.
Therefore, it is important that you only sign up for exactly the student housing facilities that you are interested in.

If you do not reply when you are offered a student housing unit

If you do not reply when offered a student housing unit, it will be the same as declining. If you, twice running, do not respond when receiving an offer for a student housing unit, you will thus be moved to the bottom of the waiting list and be registered as an inactive applicant for the student housing facilities you have signed up for.
When you are an inactive applicant, you will not accrue seniority on the waiting list.
Therefore, it is important that you only sign up for exactly the student housing facilities that you are interested in.

10. How long will it be before you are offered a student housing unit?

It is not possible to say when you will be offered a student housing unit. It depends on how often a student housing unit becomes vacant and how many students who have signed up on the waiting list and, finally, your number on the waiting list. We expect a relatively heavy rotation of the student housing units though.

11. How to deregister on the waiting list for PFA Student Housing

If you no longer wish to be signed up for PFA Student Housing, you may change and delete your wishes at your profile under ‘min side’ at Findbolig.nu (available in Danish only). Here you can see the housing you have signed up for and you can cancel it by clicking ‘fjern min opskrivning’. When you delete yourself from the list, you will be deregistered on the waiting list.

12. What happens if you are no longer a customer with PFA?

If you, your parents or your grandparents are no longer customers with PFA, you cannot remain on the waiting list for a student housing unit with PFA. In connection with the assignment of a student housing unit, your relation to PFA will be checked and if you no longer have a relation, you will be deleted from the waiting list of all the student housing facilities you have signed up for.

If you, your parents or your grandparents are no longer customers with PFA after you were assigned a student housing unit, you may stay in your housing unit until you do not fulfil the criteria of living in a PFA student housing facility anymore. Below, in section 21, you can see the criteria that apply.

13. What happens if a parent or grandparent dies when you are living in or on the waiting list for a PFA student housing unit?

If a parent or grandparent, who is a customer with PFA and who prompted your signing up on the waiting list, or your present accommodation in a PFA student housing unit, passes away, you will still be entitled to stay on the waiting list or continue living in your student housing unit in spite of the death. However, you can only stay as long as you fulfil the general criteria that apply.

14. What happens if you get divorced or split up while you are living in a PFA student housing unit?

It is the person who was signed up for the student housing facility either by the parents or grandparents, or who is a customer himself/herself, who is entitled to have an officially registered address in the student housing facility. It is only allowed to have one officially registered address linked to the student housing unit.

Therefore, it will always be the person, who was assigned the student housing unit, and whose officially registered address is linked to the student housing unit, who can stay in the housing unit.

If it turns out that the other part is also a customer with PFA, or has a parent or grandparent who is a customer with PFA, this person will have the opportunity to be signed up on the waiting list and in this way get access to a new student housing unit when a unit becomes vacant.

15. What if you have requested or get non-disclosure of your name and address?

When you sign up for a student housing unit, Findbolig.nu (available in Danish only) will pass on your contact information (name, e-mail and phone number) to the lessor, or the lessor’s representative of the student housing facility that you have signed up for. This applies regardless of whether non-disclosure of your name and address is in force.

If you, as a consequence of non-disclosure of your name and address, do not want your contact information to be shared with lessor and lessor’s representative, you must cancel your selected student housing facilities at Findbolig.nu.

When you cancel your selected student housing facilities, you will be deregistered from the waiting list and will no longer be contacted.

16. Where can you find information about your PFA student housing facility?

If you have any questions regarding your student housing facility, please contact the property manager who assists the lessor. Please find information about the property manager on your tenancy agreement. Also, please note that pets are not allowed in the PFA Group’s tenancies, nor is it allowed to let out the student housing unit, for instance through Airbnb.

17. How is personal information processed?

18. Is it possible to make an appointment for a showing before making up your mind?

In connection with the opening of a new student housing property, we host an open house arrangement which makes it possible to have a look at the student housing and its facilities. When you are offered a student housing unit, you can opt for a showing before the response deadline. However, it is not required that you see the tenancy before making your decision. You can find photos and plan drawings from the student housing facility in question at Findbolig.nu. You can also have a look at some examples of individual housing units. Reservations are made for the unit types and solutions that may vary unit by unit.

19. How long can you wait before responding when offered a student housing unit?

The response deadline will be between 2-5 weekdays from the time when the student housing offer is sent to you. You find the offer under your profile at findbolig.nu. You will receive a message by e-mail when an offer is sent to you. Therefore, please be sure that your e-mail address is always correct and updated.

20. When can you sign up for a student housing unit?

You can sign up for a student housing unit provided that you are a customer with PFA, a child or grandchild of a customer with PFA. In addition, you must be registered for generally recognised education. You must be actively studying and you will be requested to vacate the student housing unit no later than three months after your graduation.

21. Which criteria must you meet to be assigned a student housing unit?

You, your parents or grandparents must be customers with PFA in order for you to obtain access to sign up for and be assigned a PFA student housing unit.

In addition, you must registered for generally recognised education and be able to present the proof hereof, when you are offered a student housing unit. Also, you must complete a solemn declaration in connection with signing the tenancy agreement.

You, your parents or grandparents will be considered PFA customers when they have a savings plan, insurance cover or available funds with PFA.

22. What happens if you are no longer enlisted or actively studying at a higher education institution?

If you are no longer enlisted at a higher education institution eligible for student grants from the Danish State Education Fund (SU), you must give notice to terminate the student housing tenancy and move out no later than three months after graduation.

23. How does the waiting list work?

When a student housing unit becomes vacant it will prompt us to forward an offer to, for example, the first 50 applicants on the list. The applicants must then either accept (respond with a ‘yes please’) or refuse the offer (respond with a ‘no thank you’) before the response deadline stated in the offer.

Among the applicants who have accepted (responded with a ‘yes please’) the system will automatically assign the student housing unit to the applicant with longest seniority on the waiting list. This means the person who has been on the waiting list for the longest time and lives up to our general criteria.

In the offer, you will find a plan drawing of the unit type you are offered. The offer may also include photos, however, not photos of the specific unit. The photos will show a test student housing unit in order to provide you with an idea of how the units appear in general.

24. What does it mean that you are either an active or inactive applicant?

If you are an active applicant, you have signed up on the waiting list for a student housing unit. You accrue seniority on the waiting list from the date of your sign-up and for as long as you remember to observe our general rules.

If you become registered as passive, or register yourself as passive, you will no longer accrue seniority on the waiting list.

25. Which documents must you forward to be assigned a student housing unit?

You must either upload a letter of admission or a “studietjekskema” (the form is available at findbolig.nu) signed by your educational institution. You must enclose the letter of admission if you have not yet commenced your studies, and the form “studietjekskema” must be enclosed when you are actively studying.

If you have uploaded your letter of admission on application because you had not yet commenced your studies, you must forward the form “studietjekskema” later when you have commenced your studies.

Moreover, you must be able to present and/or upload proof that you are a customer with PFA or the child or grandchild of a PFA customer. In connection with signing the tenancy contract, you must fill in a solemn declaration.

26. Which shared facilities are available at the student housing property?

The shared facilities may vary from one student housing property to the other, however, you will always find shared kitchens. Other shared spaces are for instance: TV room, study room, fitness room, music room, assembly room, Friday bar, terraces, parking area, parking places for bicycles and laundry room.

27. What is included in a student housing unit

A student housing unit consists of a room with space for bed, table and chair. You will find fixed cupboards and you will have your private bathroom with shower, sink and toilet.

28. How is the student housing facility maintained and cleaned?

It is your responsibility to leave all common areas clean and tidy after use. You are also responsible for cleaning your own student housing unit.
