PFA Brug Livet Fonden grants DKK 175,000 to five causes

Today, PFA’s charitable foundation PFA Brug Livet Fonden grants DKK 175,000 to this year’s causes.

The six causes that will receive support from the foundation are:

  • Julemærkefonden will receive DKK 50,000
  • Sølund Musik-Festival will receive DKK 50,000
  • Danish Cystic Fibrosis Association will receive DKK 25,000
  • Børns Voksenvenner will receive DKK 25,000
  • Foreningen for Børn med Handicap – og deres Familier will receive DKK 25,000
  • Immun Defekt Foreningen will receive help for setting up a new website

For the seventh year in a row, the foundation supports causes that help others to live life. When selecting the causes this year, the foundation’s Board of Directors has attached great importance to different ways of helping children and young people, Torben Dalby Larsen, Chairman of the board and CEO at Sjællandske Medier explains.

“We have decided to support dedicated individuals, who go the extra mile to give children and young people with different challenges a better and more secure childhood. The support has been distributed to a range of causes and will both benefit some who live with a disability or illness and children who are fighting, among other things, bullying, loneliness and low self-esteem, so that they hopefully can look forward to a brighter future.”

A valuable help

One of the 2016 causes is Julemærkefonden, which runs four temporary homes, Julemærkehjem, for children who need help to get on the right track. Each year, they help 750 vulnerable children to a fresh start. Fundraiser at Julemærkefonden Bente Duusgaard says:

“Julemærkehjemmene are 100 % dependent on donations, as we no longer are able to keep up our relief work through sale of Christmas seals. And even the smallest contribution counts. It enables us to offer a free stay at our homes for the many children and young people on waiting lists.”

Another of this year’s causes is Sølund Musik-festival, which is the world’s largest music festival for people with mental deficiencies and their companions. About the support from the foundation, manager of Sølund Musik-Festival Lasse Mortensen states:

“It means a lot to us to become the 2016 cause, and the money is an incredibly valuable help to our work in arranging our annual festival. However, it is just as important being recognised for our work in speaking up for people with mental deficiencies. It is a great recognition for the 2200 volunteers who are involved in the festival.”
