Insurance cover for employees of member Company

If your employer is a part of the plan for the former Bankpension and makes payments to your pension plan, your insurance package in PFA will, in general, consist of the following insurance plans:

The contents of your insurance package is dependent on whether you have an average interest rate savings plan or a market rate savings plan, and it will be dependent on your pre-merger insurance cover.

You can adjust your insurance cover if you can submit satisfactory health information and your employer is a part of the plan for the former Bankpension and still makes payments to your plan.

PFA Occupational Capacity

If you fall ill and become unable to work, you may generally qualify for payouts from PFA Occupational Capacity.
PFA Occupational Capacity provides cover in the event of both temporary and permanent reduction in the occupational capacity. Your occupational and earnings capacity must be reduced to 50 % or more in order for you to qualify for regular payouts in the event of a reduction in the occupational capacity. The insurance will be paid out until you attain the age of 65 or until your occupational capacity has improved.

You can increase your insurance cover to up to 80 per cent of your pensionable salary or reduce it to as little as 1 per cent. However, the cover cannot be less than DKK 198,300 (2022).

If you receive public job rehabilitation benefit, you will from now on be eligible for regular payouts of 80 per cent of your salary - regardless of your chosen cover.

Payment protection cover offers extra security

Your occupational capacity insurance also includes payment protection cover, which ensures that your pension plan will continue while you receive payouts from PFA Occupational Capacity. This means that PFA Occupational Capacity, PFA Critical Illness and PFA Life will continue, and, in addition, that PFA will take on the payments to your pension plan. This way, you keep your insurance cover and can continue saving for retirement.

Add a lump sum as part of your insurance plan

You can purchase additional insurance cover which ensures you a lump sum in the event that your occupational capacity is permanently reduced by 2/3 or more. You will receive the payout when your occupational capacity has been reduced for 12 months to the extent justifying cover. The cover can amount to DKK 500,000 at a maximum.

PFA EarlyCare ensures quick help

PFA Critical Illness – financial help if you fall seriously ill

With PFA Critical Illness, you qualify for a tax-free payout if you are diagnosed with a critical illness covered by the insurance.

Find out which diagnoses are covered under PFA Critical Illness

As a starting point, your critical illness cover amounts to DKK 211,030 (2022). How you spend the money is up to you – for instance, you can spend it on extra personal care, extra treatment, a convalescence stay or alterations to your home. The insurance is generally in force until you attain the age of 65, but it may be extended to remain in force until you attain the age of 67. You can increase your insurance cover to up to DKK 750,000.

Increase your insurance cover in the event of critical illness with children’s cover

In PFA Plus, you can choose to extend your critical illness cover with children’s cover, which entails that you will receive a tax-free lump sum if your children under the age of 21 are diagnosed with an illness that qualifies for cover by the insurance. The cover cannot exceed your own cover in the event of critical illness. This is an offer that only applies to employees with a pension plan in PFA Plus.

PFA Life – financial security for your dependants

PFA Life is a life insurance plan that secures your dependants financially if you pass away before retirement. As a starting point, PFA Life will be paid out to your ‘next of kin’. The payout is generally a tax-free lump sum which corresponds to your annual salary, however, minimum DKK 454,939 (2022). The insurance plan is generally in force until you attain the age of 65, but it may be extended to remain in force until you attain the age of 67.

You can increase your insurance cover to up to 800 per cent of your pensionable salary. Generally, PFA recommends that you select a level of insurance cover that allows your family to maintain its standard of living for up to four years if you are no longer around.

Children’s pension – extra security for your children

A children's pension ensures your children under the age of 21 regular payouts of up to 25 per cent of your salary in the event that you pass away before retirement.
The payouts will be considered personal income for the children. We therefore recommend that you select a level of insurance cover that falls within the limit of your children’s tax exemption cards, so that they will not have to pay tax on the payouts.

Spouse’s/domestic partner’s pension – extra security for your partner

A spouse’s/domestic partners pension ensures your partner payouts either for life or up to 10 years.

In PFA Plus, you can as a rule select and deselect spouse’s/domestic partner’s pension right up to your retirement. Your spouse/cohabiting partner must be registered by a civil reg. No. with Bankpension or PFA Pension in order to qualify for payout.

If you have an average interest rate pension plan, your cohabiting partner must, among other things, be named in your will before you attain the age of 67 and no later than three months before your death in order to qualify for payout. If you have a collective spouse’s/domestic partner’s plan in the average interest rate environment, this cannot be selected or deselected.

PFA Health Insurance

Not all members have Health Insurance – it depends on the individual employer’s agreement with PFA. You can see whether you are covered by PFA Health Insurance in the insurance overview at My PFA.

PFA Health Insurance gives you access to quick treatment, surgery and rehabilitation if you fall ill or get injured.

Your children below the age of 21 are automatically covered by your Health Insurance and are therefore ensured the same access to quick treatment. The same applies to your cohabiting partner’s resident children.
