We need proof of identity from you

Like other Danish pension companies, PFA is liable to procure proof of identity from all of its customers as part of the measures to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing. According to the Danish Act on Measures to Prevent Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism, we must confirm your identity from a reliable and independent source.

It is up to you how you want to provide proof of identity

The following documents will be accepted as documentation:

  • Valid Passport
  • EU driving licence
  • Danish health insurance card
  • The Danish Armed Forces' ID card

  • The Danish National Police’s ID card
  • Residence permit type F or D (laminated plastic card with picture)
  • National identity card that is valid as travel identification in connection with travels to and from Denmark.

If you have to submit two types of identification and you do not have two of the above-mentioned documents, you can instead use one of the above-listed documents together with a copy of one of the following documents:

  • Birth certificate
  • Tax card
  • Tax card issued by the tax authorities in your country of residence.

  • Your full name
  • If you have a Danish civil reg. No. it must also be stated on the document
  • The copy must be clearly readable

More information about the act on money laundering

The act on money laundering is changed as at 26 June 2017 (The Danish Act on Measures to Prevent Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism), and the act means increased requirements compared to the existing act on money laundering, which, among other things, includes more focus on pension plans.

The most significant increased requirement in the new act on money laundering is the requirement regarding knowledge about the customer and obligations during the customer relationship. This means that all new customers must provide proof of identity in connection with establishment of a pension plan, and that PFA cannot initiate pension payouts to new and existing customers if we have not received valid proof of identity.

PFA Pension fixes the appropriate measures at any time, which, among other things, means that savings cannot be paid out and that disposal of the savings will be limited until satisfactory proof of identity has been submitted. If a lack of proof of identity implies a risk of money laundering or financing of terrorism, PFA Pension may terminate or discontinue the pension plan and potentially also notify the Danish State Prosecutor for Serious Economic and International Crime (SØIK) about the suspicion.

PFA Pension is entitled to examine, register and keep personal information with a view to establish whether there is suspicion of or reasonable cause to assume that the pension plan is or has been connected to money laundering or terrorist financing. PFA Pension may keep this personal information for at least 5 years after the pension plan has been terminated with PFA Pension.
