What is covered?
PFA Health Insurance covers (not exhaustive):
- Expenses for pre-examinations, treatments and re-examinations at hospitals, clinics or by specialists
- Treatment of abuse of alcohol, medicine and other intoxicants (up to DKK 132,000)
- Psychologist (needs-based)
- Emergency counselling (24-hour service)
- Treatment by psychiatrists (up to 12 consultations)
- Chiropractor and physiotherapist (needs-based)
- Acupuncturist and reflexologist (up to 12 sessions per year in total)
- Dietician in case of BMI under 18 or above 30 (up to 12 consultations)
- Rehabilitation (up to 24 months)
- Recuperation stay (up to 3 months)
- Medical follow-up treatment
- Temporary home help and home nursing care (up to 3 months)
- Transportation of patients in Denmark
- Quick help dealing with stress without a doctor’s referral
You can use the examination and treatment options, etc. right from the day when you become covered by the health insurance plan; however, the need for treatment must have occurred during the insurance period.
PFA Health Insurance does not cover (not exhaustive):
- Chronic illnesses that occurred before you became covered by PFA Health Insurance
- Cosmetic surgery
- Glasses, contact lenses, hearing aids or dental treatment
- Infertility treatment
- Emergency treatments (for instance in relation to situations that require doctors from the emergency service and casualty ward)
- Treatment needs that occurred before you became covered by PFA Health Insurance
- Alternative treatment
- Organ transplant
- Chronic dialysis treatment
- Treatment of compulsive gambling
- Corns and warts on feet and hands
- Sexually transmitted diseases
- Heart diseases that are covered by the public heart treatment packages. However, diagnosing is covered
- Cancer illnesses that are covered by the public cancer treatment packages. However, diagnosing is covered
- Recuperation from stress

Advice on job dissatisfaction, stress symptoms or substance abuse over the phone
If you experience stress symptoms or do not thrive, you can get advice and guidance from a psychologist by contacting the new Mental well-being hotline. The psychologist will also assess whether you need further help. Call the Mental well-being hotline at (+45) 71 96 76 60.
If you are battling abuse of alcohol, medicine or other intoxicants, you can get advice on dealing with substance abuse and treatment by contacting the Alcohol and drug hotline at (+45) 71 96 77 60.
Get help during menopause
If you are in menopause, you can get treatment for any issues from an acupuncturist, reflexologist, gynaecologist and dietitian (no overweight or underweight requirement). In addition, you can get psychological counselling via the Mental well-being hotline or a traditional psychologist session.
Your children under the age of 24 have the same cover as you
Your children under the age of 24 are automatically covered by your Health Insurance. This means that they have the same advantageous treatment and examination options that you do. If you have a domestic partner, your domestic partner’s children will also be covered.
