Your children under the age of 24 have the same good opportunities for access to examinations, treatment and surgeries that you do. If the treatment requires a doctor’s referral, it may be a good idea to contact your own doctor before calling PFA, but you are also welcome to call beforehand for advice on the most optimal treatment.
Distress in children can manifest in many ways – from mild early symptoms such as restlessness and nervousness, to persistent symptoms like anxiety, insomnia, and a depressed state. This can often impact the entire family, and therefore PFA is ready to help you and your child with advice and guidance.
When children are distressed over long periods of time and the symptoms persist, there may be a need for psychological assistance or another form of treatment. PFA is ready to help you and your child with advice and guidance. Together we can get to the bottom of what is needed in your particular situation, so that your family can get back to a normal everyday life as soon as possible. You can either receive advice and guidance on the right help from our health advisors or get online help from a family counsellor.
Help for mental distress
We can help your child, siblings and yourself, and make it easy for you all to get the relevant support. This can help prevent your child’s mental distress developing and having a negative impact on you or negative spillover effects on the siblings’ well-being.
Psychologist and coach
You get quick counselling and we assess your options of getting treatment from e.g. a psychologist or coach:
- Preventive help from a psychologist
- Get counselling and treatment for mental health concerns and issues via the Mental well-being hotline at (+45) 71 96 76 60
- Preventive help from Online Coach (from 15-24 years of age)
- The Online Coach can give advice and guidance on how to deal with life challenges and changes before they turn into distress and stress
- Psychological counselling
- Individual counselling sessions with a specialised child and adolescent psychologist with parental involvement if the child is under 15 years old
- Cool Kids and Chilled for anxiety and OCD
- Cool Kids and Chilled is a treatment programme based on cognitive behavioural therapy where both the child and parents participate in the treatment and learn practical tools to better manage the child’s anxiety.
