What happens to your pension plan?

Typically, you will receive your salary during your notice period, and payments will be made to your pension plan.

When the notice period ends, your insurance cover will continue for a further 3 months after the last payment to your pension plan – even if no further payments are made to your plan.

Within the expiry of the 3 months, you must decide what should happen with your pension plan in the future.

What happens to your Health Insurance?

When the notice period ends, your Health Insurance, along with your remaining insurance cover, will continue for a further 3 months after the last payment to your pension plan – even if no further payments are made to your plan.

If you have been granted treatment through your Health Insurance during this period, it must be completed no later than 6 months after the last payment to your pension plan.

For example, if the last payment is made on 31 January 2026, PFA Health Insurance will cease on 30 April 2026, and any approved or ongoing treatment must be completed no later than 31 July 2026. This also applies if your children need to use PFA Health Insurance.

If your spouse/domestic partner has established a Health Insurance through Novo Nordisk, it will remain unchanged until 31 December, as the insurance is paid annually. If your notice period ends in 2026, your spouse/partner will have the option to maintain PFA Health Insurance until 31 December 2026.

What do you want to do with your remaining insurance cover?

You have the following options:

Continuing to make payments

You can choose to make payments to your pension plan yourself, allowing you to continue saving and remain insured – albeit with different prices and terms.

Keeping your insurance cover for a period

You can choose not to make payments to your plan and instead let your savings cover the cost of your insurance for up to 6 months. This will be subject to different prices and terms, and your insurance cover will be adjusted, with some plans ceasing altogether.

Not taking any action

If you take no action, your pension plan will be put on hold 3 months after your termination, and your insurance cover will be reduced or cease entirely.

Here, you gain an overview of your options with PFA:

You have left your job without a new job at hand

  • You can continue to make payments yourself and thereby maintain both your savings and insurance cover.

  • You can choose a plan with a payment pause, where your insurance cover continues, and the cost is deducted from your savings.

  • You can select a plan without payments that consists of your savings only, with administrative costs deducted from your savings.

You already have a new job

  • If your new employer has an agreement with PFA, your plan will automatically continue under the new terms.

  • If your new employer has different pension company, you can transfer your savings to this company. Please note that a fee is typically charged, and you will lose the benefits you have with PFA.

  • You can select a plan without payments that consists of your savings only.

  • If your new employer does not have a pension agreement, you can enter into an agreement with us where your employer makes payments to your pension plan.

It may be wise to keep your insurance cover

We recommend that you keep your insurance coverage until your situation is settled. If you lose your insurance cover, you may risk having to provide health information if you later wish to obtain insurance again. Previous health issues may affect what you can be covered for.

It is important that you contact us if you become insured elsewhere so that you are not double-insured.
