Appointment of Beneficiaries

Are your dependants properly secured if something were to happen to you?

In the event of your death, payouts from your pension plan will as a rule be made to your ‘next of kin’. If you have a children's pension, the payout will however be made to your children under the age of 21.
Your ‘next of kin’ depends on when you became a member of Bankpension.

If you became a member before 1 January 2008, your ‘next of kin’ is, in order of priority:
  1. Spouse/registered partner
  2. Heirs of the body (children or grandchildren)
  3. Heirs according to will
  4. Heirs according to the Danish Inheritance Act (parents, siblings etc.)
  5. If no heirs exist, the payout will be made to the estate.
If you became a member after 1 January 2008, your ‘next of kin’ is, in order of priority:
  1. Spouse/registered partner
  2. Domestic partner where one of the following applies
    a.  you are living together and have been living together for at least two years before your death
    b.  you are living together and have, have had or are expecting a child together
  3. Heirs of the body (children or grandchildren)
  4. Heirs according to will
  5. Heirs according to the Danish Inheritance Act (parents, siblings etc.)
  6. If no heirs exist, the payout will be made to the estate.

If you have established an irrevocable appointment of beneficiary, this will however continue to apply to the plans that are subject to the applicable appointment. Other payouts from your pension plan, which are not included in the irrevocable appointment of beneficiary, will be made to your ‘next of kin’.

If you have appointed a named beneficiary for your life insurance (group term life benefit), and have otherwise not appointed any additional beneficiaries, this appointment of beneficiary will still apply to this insurance plan in PFA. You will receive a letter as a confirmation stating that your named beneficiary has been transferred to PFA.
