PFA invests EUR 50 million in growth in Denmark and Europe

Peter Tind, Head of Alternative Investments at PFA

PFA is investing DKK 350 million in private equity firm Axcel’s new fund, Axcel VIII, which will invest in medium-sized companies in Denmark and the rest of Europe. The fund will focus on companies in sectors including technology, industry and healthcare.

Through the fund, PFA’s customers can invest in companies that have the potential to create growth, jobs and new solutions in Denmark and Europe.

“Axcel VIII gives us access to a portfolio of medium-sized growth companies. Companies of this type often have good growth prospects but also entail a higher investment risk. This is precisely why we are investing through a fund, allowing us to spread the risk across several companies. It is an attractive way to create opportunities for good long-term returns while enabling our customers to share in the value creation taking place in Denmark and Europe,” says Peter Tind, Head of Alternative Investments at PFA.

Axcel VIII has total commitments of EUR 2.1 billion. This corresponds to approximately DKK 15.7 billion. The fund will invest in medium-sized companies, primarily in Denmark and Europe, in sectors including technology, industry and healthcare.

The investment comes at a time when both politicians and businesses are calling for more capital for companies with ambitions to grow. Pension companies can play a greater role here as long-term investors.

“Pension savings have a multi-year investment horizon, making them well suited to investments in companies with the potential for growth and value creation. In this way, customers’ savings can contribute both to attractive returns and to the development of companies, jobs and competitiveness in Europe,” says Peter Tind.

For PFA, investments in private equity funds form part of its overall portfolio of unlisted investments. They can help diversify customers’ investments across asset classes, sectors and geographical regions. PFA also aims to have invested DKK 500 billion in Europe by 2030. PFA currently has investments worth DKK 400 billion in Europe.

“It is important to us that customers’ savings are invested broadly and responsibly. With Axcel VIII, we are investing not only in a fund but also in companies that have the potential to develop, create jobs and strengthen their position in European markets,” says Peter Tind.
